Cold Monday :(

Despite of the cold temperature outside we had lots of fun activities going on today in our class.
We began the day with our morning routine, things now are back to normal regarding to our schedule :) I love teaching them the core subjects in the morning as they are more alert and eager to learn!
In Language Arts we reviewed long vowel sound of "Ii", practiced reading and writing the word bike. Students then participated in reading groups, where each one had to sound out blends and short words.
As I was supervising the groups, students have been improving each and everyday in their reading skills. Way to go JKs!
In our Unit of Inquiry we are still learning about insects. Today students were encouraged to color different types of animals, then cut and paste into 2 groups "Insect" and "Not an Insect". Kasen did a pretty good job, with no help at all!
We also watched this video: http://youtu.be/SYawa4piO4k
In Math we will be working on numbers 11-20 this week. Students will be writing numbers 1-20, counting using math manipulative, representing specific amounts trough drawings and tally.
After lunch students used the "Alphabet Center" to write in their journals.
To finish off the day we had 3 centers in our class: art, blocks and play dough.
Have a great evening everyone!
