It was so exciting to hear everyone's story about March Break!
Sounds like everybody had a great break!
Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts we reviewd all the letter sounds and praticed formation of Aa, Bb, Cc and Dd.
We also learned about two animal friends Quentin Quail and Roxie Fox. Students then traced and wrote Qq and Xx.
In Math we started a new Unit on Measurment. I think this will be a really fun unit as students will learn the following: use non-standard units (for example: string, a drinking straw) to measure height and length, use simple measurement words correctly (for example: longer/shorter; full/empty; heavier/lighter), demonstrate awareness of the passage of time and identify the names and values of some coins.
Today, as an introduction to the unit we played a game where I placed a collection of materials on display. Students then sorted the items by size. After that we read "The Three Bears" and completed an activity where students cut out the pictures and sorted the items according to which bear they would belong to. When they were done I asked them why they sorted the way they did. They were encoureged to use size words to describe the items in each group.
Students attended French, Gym and Music classes today.
To finish off the day, students had the choice of 3 centers: Arts (opportunity to develop fine motor skills trhough cutting, gluing and playdough), Blocks (opporuntiy to develop problem solving skills and cooperative play), Lacing Crads (opportunity to develop fine motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination and concentartion).
Have a great evening everyone!
